Abstract

Homework has a lot of benefits in education. This research focused to find the
frequency of homework. This study also purposed to explore the level of students’ motivation
in learning and identify the correlation between frequency of homework and students’
learning motivation at an English department in a private university in Yogyakarta. This
research used quantitative correlational design by using questionnaire to assess data. This
research conducted in English Language Education Department of a private University in
Yogyakarta. The total population from this research was 216 students of English Language
Education Department of a private university in Yogyakarta batch 2018. This population then
was selected randomly from the received questionnaire and took 151 students that chosen as
sample. The result revealed that mean total of frequency of homework was 2.67 which means
moderate. It means that the teacher give the homework in normal frequency which was not
overload and not less. The result indicates that there is significant correlation between two
variables. Furthermore, the result also presented that the Pearson Correlation value obtained
was 0.303. It means that the correlation was positive correlation and the degree was weak.
