Abstract
The family planning program is one of the efforts to reduce the rate of population growth by using contraceptives. The use of contraception in Indonesia is currently still dominated by users of hormonal contraception and the most widely used methods are injectable contraceptives and pill contraception. Hormonal contraceptives containing the hormones estrogen or progesterone can cause various side effects. This study aims to examine the description and comparison of the side effects of using injectable and pill hormonal contraception in the patient of Midwife Nurul Apri, Kasihan District. This research is a quantitative non-experimental research with a comparative descriptive nature using a cross sectional approach. The research was conducted at the Independent Practice of Midwife Nurul Apri, Kec. Pity, which was held in April - May 2021. Sampling was carried out by total sampling on pill KB acceptors and concecutive sampling on injectable KB acceptors with a large sample of 60 respondents who were divided into 2 groups, of which 30 respondents were injectable KB acceptors and 30 respondents. as a contraceptive pill acceptor. The analytical method used is descriptive analysis to compare the incidence of side effects from the use of injectable and pill contraceptives and comparative analysis to compare the differences in side effects from the use of injectable and pill contraceptives. The results of this study indicate that the incidence of side effects from the use of injectable contraceptives is higher than the contraceptive pill with the percentage values of not having menstruation (amenorrhea) 13%, irregular bleeding 23%, spotting bleeding 27%, decreased libido 10%, dizziness headache 67%, weight change 60%, hypertension 20%, nausea/vomiting 23%, acne 17%, and breast tenderness 20%. The results of the comparative test showed that there was a significant difference between the incidence of side effects from the use of injectable contraceptives and the pill with the Mann Whitney test results obtained p value = 0.005.
