Abstract
Tempe is one of the staple foods typical of the Indonesian people. Made from fermented soybeans then wrapped in plastic or banana leaves. In the process of making tempeh there are several steps, namely soaking the soybeans, then doing the process of separating the soybeans husk, then carrying out the fermentation process by wrapping the soybeans that are separated from the epidermis and adding yeast so that the fermentation process can run. In both traditional and modern ways.The purpose of this research is to design and manufacture a conveyor type epidermis peeler and to test the finished tool. The test is carried out by doing the peeling process and observing the soybeans that have been separated from the husks. The material used is aluminum plate which will be made of cover and conveyor cylinder with dimensions of 291 mm x 120 mm x 120 mm. The method of making shafts and conveyor cylinders uses a lathe. The results of the observation of soybean seeds that have been carried out using a conveyor type epidermis peeler machine with a rotating power of 150 rpm and a gap of 3 mm between the cover and the conveyor cylinder produce soybean seed fragments into 2 parts if the rotation speed is increased during the peeling process it will have an impact on the destruction of soybean seeds. which will be used for the production of tempe.
