Abstract

Karang Tinggi – Penanding road is an access road for residents to carry
out economic activities such as transporting plantation products and mining
products. On this ±4 km road many damaged road conditions are found due to the
overload caused by heavy vehicles that exceed the power capacity transportation.
Due to the condition of this road, it is necessary to conduct studies and research on
the structure of the road pavement. This study aims to design the thickness of the
flexible pavement layer using standard loads and overloading so that it can
determine the efficient pavement thickness. The method used in this research is the
pavement design manual 2013 method to design flexible pavement thicknesses and
the KENPAVE program to analyze the strain value on the designed pavement.
Based on the results of the analysis using Manual Desain Perkerasan 2013 method,
the Cummulative Equivalent Standard Axle (CESA5) value at a standard load of
665.140,066 it is slightly smaller than the overloading of 898.476,308, because the
difference in value is not too significant between the CESA standard load and the
CESA overload, it was obtained that the thickness of the pavement layer is 6,5 cm
for the surface layer (HRS WC and HRS Base), 25 cm for base layer (LPA grade
A), and 12,5 cm for subbase layer (LPA grade A). Pavement thickness analysis
using the KENPAVE program obtained a tangential strain value of 0,00003637 and
a vertical strain value of 0,0002602. Analysis using the asphalt institute model
equation obtained the repetition value of fatigue cracking load of 1,907,607.57 and
the value of repetition of rutting load of 15.268.694,44. This concludes that the
pavement thickness designed is able to accept and restrain pavement conditions
from fatigue cracking and rutting damage during the design life.
