Abstract

Concrete is a combination of several materials, i.e., fine aggregate and coarse aggregate which are mixed with paste (a mixture of cement and water). In this study, some of the coarse aggregates are replaced with oil palm shells (OPS) with a percentage of 0%, 10%, 20%, 30%, and 40%. This study aimed to determine the dry shrinkage that occurs at the concrete 0 days, 3 days, 7 days, 14 days, and 28 days with three methods, namely room temperature, water immersion, and oven temperature of 60ºC. This study used 15 specimens, each mixed percentage consisted of 3 specimens with a diameter of 7.5 cm and a height of 15 cm. The final results obtained indicate that the largest shrinkage occurs at 40% replacement of coarse agregat with OPS using the oven method at 60ºC, therefore, this percentage is not recommended for use, while the smallest shrinkage occurs at 10% replacement of coarse agregat with OPS with the water immersion method, therefore, this percentage can be recommended for application of the concrete.
