Abstract

The United States and China are countries that have strong economic power, thus making the two countries establish economic cooperation to achieve their national interests. But the cooperation between the U.S.-China does not always go smoothly, many conflicts that color U.S.-China relations one of which is the protectionism policy applied by Donald Trump to Chinese products. In this paper, the authors discuss the impact of Donald Trump's protectionism policy on Chinese products on the U.S. domestic economy. This article explains how protectionism policies affect the U.S. domestic economy. In writing this paper, the author uses qualitative methods. The techniques used in this research are through the study of libraries by collecting, studying, analyzing data obtained from books, research journals, previous research, literature, articles, documents, and news published in various media (such as newspapers, electronic media, or the internet) related to the issues discussed. Furthermore, this article uses the concept of protectionism, the impact of protectionism, and the concept of the trade war. So the results of this study show that the impact of Donald Trump's protectionism policy on Chinese products on the United States domestic economy is the first to increase the trade deficit due to tariff retaliation from China, both adverse effects in the form of decreased U.S. investment and stocks in international trade.
