Abstract
Friction welding is one of the developments of metal joining techniques, where the process in this process uses friction and pressure as an influence for melting metal, where the metal is also a filler in the welding process. Welding using filler is often used for flat media, for the dissimilar or solid joining process requires detailed preparation and implementation. The welding process is an important aspect of joining metals. This research was conducted to determine the strength of welded joints of 304 stainless steel and 310 series stainless steel using themethod Friction Welding using a minimum temperature of 750 degrees Celsius. Frictional stress can affect the tensile strength of the joint. The effect of temperature is used because each material has a different melting point. The tests carried out can take data on the tensile strength of the joint with a pressure variable of 50 MPa and a pressure of 60 MPa. In the tests carried out, it was found that under the influence of a frictional pressure of 60 MPa, the tensile strength was higher than the pressure of 50 MPa, the shortening of the specimen was only 5 mm at a pressure of 50 MPa and 7.6 mm at a pressure of 60 MPa, the number of fractures occurred in the base specimen 304 and the highest value of tensile strength is 427,574 MPa.
