Indonesia is one of the most populous countries in the world, and a country that has the highest crime rate. Various efforts have been made in dealing with and tackling the problem of crime, one of which is by making regulations that can limit human behavior in the order of life in society, however, until now crime in society is still common. One form of crime that has recently occurred and is troubling the community is the crime of robbery or the crime of theft accompanied by violence. This study aims to find out and understand what factors are the perpetrators of criminal acts of robbery in the Special Region of Yogyakarta and what efforts are made by the parties or law enforcement officers in eradicating or tackling crimes that are disturbing the community and hinder the creation of security and order in society. Based on research conducted with sociolegal Juridical Empirical research methods, that this crime is one of the crimes that was born and developed in the community. This is due to the economy, alcohol or drugs, thuggery, a bad environment, the influence of everyday life, mass media, internet and gadgets. Efforts to overcome the crime of robbery are carried out such as preventive efforts by involving the community, religious leaders, siskamling, installing CCTV in places prone to crime, socializing the community regarding the crime of robbery, as well as routine operations, and repressive efforts to take firm action and process with applicable law. Until there is security in the community. Factors causing the occurrence of criminal acts of robbery, especially in the Special Region of Yogyakarta are economic factors, drugs, alcohol, which are factors that often appear in criminal acts of robbery, but besides these factors there are also other factors that encourage the occurrence of crimes of robbery, among others; media, unfavorable environment, weak social control, thuggery, miscommunication, culture of consumerism and materialism. The countermeasure that must be done is to give priority to preventive efforts, namely an effort to establish a negative relationship into a positive nature so that these efforts no longer a nuisance in society. And repressive efforts because these efforts aim to restore unrest or chaos in society to be stable again, until the realization of security and welfare in society, and provide guidance to perpetrators of crime.
