This thesis is a qualitative research entitled "Human Capital Through Disaster Management
For tourism Sector In Disaster Prone Area II of Mt. Merapi". The purpose of this study was to
determine the capacity of human resources in implementing disaster management at the
mitigation, preparation, response and recovery stages in the Disaster Prone Area II of Mount
Merapi. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative method. The data obtained
from this study came from direct observations and interviews conducted with key informants
in Umbulharjo Village, Turi District, Sleman Regency, Yogyakarta Special Region. The data
that has been obtained is then processed using the Atlas.Ti data processing application. From
the data processing carried out, it was found that the increase in the tourism sector requires
better human resource capacity. Increased human capacity includes age that is still included in
the active age and proper education. Many people do not understand how to evacuate at the
mitigation, preparation, response and recovery stages due to the lack of public knowledge in
disaster management. The need to provide education to the community in the form of
socialization and training to the community both in the broad and narrow community terms.
