Abstract
Background: Childbirth is a process of expulsion of a fetus that is enough months through the
vagina. In this labor can use tools or without the help of tools (forceps and vacuum). The best
and safest age to get pregnant or give birth is 20-35 years. At the same time, people younger
than 20 and older than 35 are at risk for long-term labor. In pregnant women under the age of
20 years, psychological and physical conditions, especially the reproductive organs are
immature, and the woman is not ready to accept pregnancy. Childbirth that occurs in
adolescent pregnancies is at risk of maternal and fetal death due to the mother's physical and
psychological unpreparedness in conceiving and giving birth to her fetus.
Research Objectives: The purpose of this literature review is to find out information on the
description of the psychological condition felt by adolescent mothers during childbirth.
Methods: The databases used in this review are research published in PubMed, and Proquest.
Critical assessment in research that meets the inclusion criteria will be carried out
independently by the author andsupervisor using the JBI Critical Appraisal.
Results: A total of six articles were reviewed. Most of the articles explained that mothers who
gave birth in their teens tended to experience high stress and anxiety, due to the immaturity of
the female reproductivesystem, unpreparedness of adolescents in the labor process, fear of bad
things that would happen, and negative experiences family at birth.
Conclusion: Psychological impacts that occur in childbirth include anxiety, depression, fear,
and experiencing traumatic stress. Anxiety, stress, and depression occur because there is no
preparation both physically, mentally, and financially in facing childbirth.
