Abstract
Fiber Reinforced Polymer (FRP) has been commonly used as a reinforcement on
reinforced concrete beam. In the implementation, FRP is not only used as
reparation on the concrete beam, but also used in the strenghten of new beam
structure. This research aimed to know the effect of FRP reinforcement on
reinforced concrete beam’s tensile strength using ATENA Gid program that was
finite element based as a field condition approach. Based on the modeling analysis
result, it was found that FRP reinforcement was able to improve the maximum load
capacity of the beam. On beam specimens that were reinforced with 1 strip of FRP
with concrete quality variations of 20 MPa, 25 MPa, 30 MPa, and 35 MPa, there
was an increase in strength by by 41.7%, 40.8%, 41.2%, and 41.2%, respectively.
On beam specimens that were reinforced with 2 strips of FRP with concrete quality
variations of 20 MPa, 25 MPa, 30 MPa, dan 35 MPa, there was an increase in
strength by 69.6%, 80.7%, 75.9% and 80.4%, respectively. The FRP-reinforced
beam had ductility decrease because the beam has more FRP strips, the beam will
be more ductile.
