Abstract
Structural design using the Building Information Modeling (BIM) method
is a prerequisite in building design as required by the Ministry of PUPR of the
Republic of Indonesia in the construction of state buildings with a minimum area
of 2000 m2. In using BIM, we can choose a variety of available software. Tekla
structure provides a choice of easy 3D design which is an advantage of using BIM.
Steel is one of the materials commonly used in construction. This is because the
structural steel is easy to fabricate so as to produce homogeneous structural
components for construction quality assurance. The design of the steel structure
using SAP2000 as a structural analysis software, then design and detailing is
carried out through the Tekla Structure program which works in an integrated
manner. The results of the design study using the BIM method for the male
dormitory of the Muhammadiyah Islamic Boarding School, the Qur'an Palace,
obtained the cross-sectional size of the structural elements, the behavior of the
structure that meets the requirements of an earthquake-resistant steel structure.
Design and detailing results that provide 3D results that are easy to understand,
visualize and print in working drawings. Tekla Structure modeling also generates
material lists.
