Abstract
Background: Breast cancer is a malignant tumor that attacks chest tissue cells and can occur
at any age but often affects women aged 40-50 years. Breast cancer is the biggest problem for
women around the world and the leading cause of death for postmenopausal women. The
incidence of breast cancer in Indonesia is 42.1 cases per 100,000 population, and the average
death rate is 17 cases per 100,000 population. The purpose of this paper is to determine how
much influence the provision of glucose has on the growth of breast cancer cells (MCF7).
Methods: This type of study and study design used in vitro laboratory experimental research,
factorial experiments with randomized block design, and post-test ony control group
comparisons. This research was conducted at the Pharmaceutical Technology Laboratory and
the Tissue Culture Laboratory of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, Muhammadiyah
University of Yogyakarta and was carried out in January - February 2021. The subjects of this
study were the Ca patudara cell line (MFC7), the result of in vivo breast cell isolation, then
developed in vitro.
Result:. The analysis test of the treatment of giving the glucose environment between High
glucose and Low glucose used an independent t test which has a p value <0.05, namely 0.023,
which means that this data has a statistically significant difference. The results of the analysis
test of the effect of glucose administration on the growth of breast cancer cells using a
regression test obtained an F value of 5.788 with a significance of 0.023 and R2 (square) of
0.171, which means that there is an effect of glucose administration on the growth of breast
cancer cells (mcf7) by 17.1%.
Conclusion: Glucose environment between High glucose and Low glucose has a significant
difference and there is an effect of glucose administration on the growth of breast cancer cells
(mcf7) by 17.1%
