Abstract
Background: Hemorrhoids are common diseases of the anal canal, which recur,
heal spontaneously and have acute episodes in addition to chronic symptoms. The
prevalence of hemorrhoids in Indonesia is quite high. Haemorrhoids are present
in 85% of women during the second and third stages of pregnancy. Hemorrhoids
will often decrease after delivery but usually won't go away completely.
Purpose: This study aims to determine whether there is a relationship between
pregnancy on hemorrhoids.
Methods: This study used a cross sectional design. The study was conducted at the
Raharja Main Clinic, Sukoharjo from 1 July 2020 to 1 October 2020. The
population of this study were patients with WUS (fertile age women), while the
study sample of 74 people was taken using consecutive sampling. Data analysis
was performed by using the Chi-Square correlation test.
Results: There was no significant relationship between hemorrhoid status and
pregnancy status (p = 0.926> 0.05). In most women, hemorrhoids due to
pregnancy are temporary hemorrhoids, which means they disappear after delivery.
The results also showed that there was no significant correlation between
Hemorrhoid Status and Pregnancy History (p = 0.166> 0.05).
Conclusion: There is no relationship between pregnancy and hemorrhoids (p
value> 0.05) at the Raharja Main Clinic
