Abstract

India ranks second among the most populous countries in the world. India's population increased by 181 million in the last ten years in 2011 the Indian government has several collaborations with countries in the Asian region, one of
which is the countries in Southeast Asia called ASEAN. Cooperation between India and ASEAN itself has existed for many years. In 1991, in order to increase its participation in East Asia, so that in 1992, India became a sectoral dialogue partner of ASEAN. of the ten member states In August 1967, Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, the Philippines and Thailand. This was expanded with the addition of Brunei Darussalam, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos and Myanmar. Therefore, it is very interesting to study the Influence of India's Look East Policy on the Establishment of the ASEAN-Free Trade Agreement. In the research method used is a qualitative research method and is sourced from secondary data. The results of this study are that the FTA agreement is only for the goods trade sector, because negotiations for
the service and investment sector agreement have started since October 2008 and were completed in December 2009. The FTA itself has been effective since January 1, 2010 and is still limited to Singapore. , Malaysia and Thailand and cooperation in this free market will be followed by ASEAN member countries in 2013.
