Abstract
The presence of Sengon vegetation in the South Slope area affected by the
eruption of Mount Merapi indicates that the nature of the soil beneath it is
capable of supporting plant growth. One of the soil properties that affect this
of soil microbes. This study aims to identify the diversity of fungi and bacteria
under Sengon stands in eruption-affected areas. Soil samples under the Sengon
stand were taken from three locations in the South Slope of Mount Merapi,
namely Salam Krajan, Srunen, and Ngemplak. Isolation of fungi and bacteria
from the soil was carried out using the Spread method. The fungi and bacteria
that were isolatd were then characterized for their morphology, both
macroscopically, microscopically, and physiologically. For comparison, fungi
and bacteria were also isolatd from soil composites from the same location. The
results showed that there were 6 genera of bacteria and 4 genera of fungi that
inhabited the bottom of Sengon stands. Meanwhile, as many as 8 genera of
bacteria and 5 genera of fungi were identified from soil composites containing
various types of vegetation. The bacterial genera that have been identified from
this location include Bacillus, Pseudomonas, Staphylococcus, Brevibacterium,
Azotobacter, Aeromonas, Acinobacter, Micrococcus, and Clostridium. The fungal
genera identified from this location include, Penicillium, Trichoderma,
Aspergillus, Clasdosporium, Monilia, Mucor, and Geotrichum.
