Abstract
This research aims to identify and analyze the role of the ISMUBA (Islamic Education,
Muhammadiyah, and Arabic language) teacher in the effort of improving students’
self-efficacy at SMK (Vocational School) Muhammadiyah Gamping as well as to
identify the condition of the students’ self-efficacy at SMK Muhammadiyah Gamping.
This research used a descriptive qualitative approach. Whereas the subject of this
research were those of students and teachers of ISMUBA. The data were compiled
through the techniques of observation, interviews, and documentation. Whilst the data,
taken from the actual facts, were then analyzed through data reduction, data display,
and conclusion. The research result showed that efforts done by the ISMUBA teachers
at SMK Muhammadiyah Gamping resulted positively, seen from the increasing
number of students who believed in their own capability which consequently also gave
a positive impact on their academic achievement. The students' self-efficacy at SMK
Muhammadiyah Gamping was considerably at a high level, although there were still
some students who had low self- efficacy. These students having low self-efficacy were
coming from broken home families. This low self-efficacy was triggered by the lack of
their family's concern for their education which in turn making them less enthusiastic
in joining the learning process.
