Abstract
This research aims to evaluate the role of mass organization in Indonesia which
focus on the study of the role of Nahdlatul Ulama mass organization and Pemuda
Pancasila in Ciamis Regency. Normative and empirical research methods were used
in this study. Data collection was conducted through literature studies and
interviews. The results showed that mass organization role since the New Order is
as a partner of the Government and build active community participation. In Ciamis
Regency, Nahdlatul Ulama participated in education with basic Islam and made
local regulations. On the other hand, Pemuda Pancasila had a role in direct
community activities. However, these two organizations still have constraints such
as the unrealized programs of each organization, one-way communication, and lack
of response from local governments directly to the organization.
