Abstract
The title of this research is Speech Act of Expression on Kanban and Keijibutsu
(signboard) in Yamanashi Prefecture. The data of this research were taken from
Japanese Kanban and Keijibutsu in tourist attraction, government offices,
roadsides, shopping area, parking lot, stations, university, library, mall, and
Yamanashi International Center. This research used descriptive qualitative method.
This research aims to determine the expressions contained in Kanban and
Keijibutsu, to find out the speech act of expressions written in Japanese Kanban
and Keijibutsu. This research focuses on sentences these function to convey the
desire to other person to do something or hatarakikake no bun, therefore
researcher only limits expressions of commands, requests, invitations, and
prohibitions. The results of this research found 13 data on command expressions
using te kudasai grammar, 46 data of request expressions using te kudasai
grammar, as well as the phrases of go kyouryoku o onegaishimasu, onegai moushi
agemasu, go enryo kudasaimase, and go riyou kudasai, 9 data of invitation
expressions using mashou grammar, 35 data of prohibition expressions using na
particle, nai de kudasai and tewa ikemasen grammars, sentence endings using
kinshi, kin’en, and genkin. While the illocutionary act found in Kanban and
Keijibutsu are directive and declaration. The directive of illocutionary act consists
of command, request, and invitation, moreover the declaration of illocutionary act
is prohibition act
