Abstract
Speaking English fluently is one of the most crucial skills to develop and improve to communicate effectively. Through fluency of speaking skills, communication becomes more effective and ease people from understanding the communication context quickly because they can communicate with less interruption. This study aimed to find out the influencing factors to increase students’ speaking fluency and to know the media used by the learners to improve their English speaking fluency. The researcher adopted qualitative approach with descriptive qualitative research design. The data collection method employed in this research was interview. Six alumni of a private university in Yogyakarta participated in this research. Each participant was interviewed individually, and the interviewer used a cell phone to record whole conversation during the interview process. The result of the interview was transcribed and member checked to prove the trustworthiness of the interview. As the results of this research, there were four findings related to the factors which could influence learners' English speaking fluency improvements. Those were environment factor, cognitive factor, affective factor, and linguistic factor. Furthermore, seven media were used by English as Foreign Language Learners to improve their speaking English fluency such as book, movie, internet, song, article, social media, and video.
