The Use of Picture Media to Develop Vocabulary Skills into Japanese

The title of this research is "Using Picture Media to Develop Vocabulary
Skills into Japanese Sentences: A Descriptive Study of Level IV Students of the
English Education Study Program, University of Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta,
Academic Year 2019/2020.". In this study, the researcher used a quasiexperimental research method, with the aim of knowing the effectiveness of using
Watashi no Kazoku image media to improve vocabulary skills into Japanese
sentences. The research design used was a pre-test and post-test group design. The
data sources in this study were 40 fourth-level students in the 2019/2020 academic
year of the English Education Study Program. The instruments used in this study
were tests and questionnaires. The test was carried out twice, namely pre-test and
post-test.
Based on the results of the study, obtained db = 39, ttable (5%) = 2.03 and
thitung = 19.2. Because the results of thitung > ttable, the hypothesis is accepted. Then
after calculating the level of effectiveness using Normalized Gain, the number is
0.78 (very effective). This is reinforced by the results of the questionnaire which
states that almost all students think that the use of watashi no kazoku image media
makes it easier to remember vocabulary and develop it into Japanese sentences.
