Abstract

With the development of the times and the increasing number of people, the
need for electrical energy is increasing. While the current source of electrical energy
still uses coal as fuel which is not renewed, this causes the need for coal to increase.
Meanwhile, the amount of coal is getting thinner day by day along with the
development of time. Therefore, alternative energy sources are needed to replace
coal to generate electrical energy.
One of the alternative energy sources that can be used to generate electricity
is waste. In addition to being used as a raw material for power generation, the use
of waste as a source of electrical energy can also protect the environment. Waste
processing into a source of electrical energy can be done using 2 methods, namely:
energy utilization by biochemical conversion methods and thermochemical
conversions. The waste produced by the landfill includes wet waste and dry waste,
for dry waste it can be used by thermochemical conversion, namely by converting
waste into RDF (Rejection of Derived Fuel) as fuel for waste to energy generators
with steam power plants (PLTU). Meanwhile, wet food waste or organic waste can
be utilized by biochemical conversion by being processed into biogas.
Based on the results of research, calculations and data processing at TPA
Darupono, the potential for waste that can be generated per day is 48.5 tons/day
while the potential for organic waste that can be generated is around 26.4 tons/day.
With the calculation results of thermochemical and biochemical processes, the
electrical energy that can be generated by thermochemical conversion is 9,984
kwh/day (thermochemical) and with biochemical conversion is 8,304 kwh/day
(methane gas) and the results of decision making in the selection of waste to energy
technology for PLTSa at TPA Darupono with Grid Analysis is an incineration
technology
