Abstract

The low view of women's rights over men in Pakistan encourages unfair treatment
of community groups. In the worst situations, unfair treatment between men and
women even leads to violence that can kill women who are mostly victims. One of
the incidents of violence against women in Pakistan is called honour killing. This
honour killing case is a discriminatory act against women that has long occurred in
Pakistan. To prevent such acts of violence, the Pakistani government actually
ratified CEDAW in 1996. But after ratifying CEDAW, in reality the case of honour
killing in Pakistan is still high. The human rights conditions in Pakistan have not
yet shown any development or significance. The existence of cases of women's
human rights violations in Pakistan is still common. In responding to honour killing
cases in Pakistan, although the government often verbally condemns the act of
honour killing but unfortunately this is not accompanied by real efforts to improve
the investigation process or the court against the case of honour killing which
clearly tends to be more favorable to the perpetrators of crimes resulting in honour
killing still occurring. But in practice after ratifying CEDAW there are still many
