Abstract
Bengkulu is one of the provinces located in Sumatra, Indonesia. Karang
Tinggi district is an area in Central Bengkulu Regency with a population of
14,117 people. Based on the field data, roads in Penanding village, Karang Tinggi
district was increasingly damaged because of overloaded vehicles crossing the
street. It is known that the road segment has previously been asphalted using a
penetration layer (LAPEN). However, due to the traffic of vehicles transporting
the excavated products from Penanding Village, the damage of the roads still
occurred. Road damage is caused by four main things, namely, construction
materials, traffic, climate, and water. The method used to evaluate flexible
pavement is the component analysis method and uses the KENPAVE program.
Using the component analysis, the research results get the amount of overlay
thickness for a standard load is 1 cm and for an overload is 3 cm with the type of
Asphalt/HRA material. On the other hand, the output obtained from the
KENPAVE program for standard loads has a horizontal tensile strain of
0.0001421 with an allowable load repetition of 2327978,193 ESAL and a vertical
compressive strain 0.0007864 with an allowable load repetition of 107978.3484
ESAL. Meanwhile, for the overload, the result is a horizontal tensile strain of
0.00011510 with an allowable repetition load of 1906131.616 ESAL and a
vertical compressive strain of 0.001108 with an allowable repetition load of
23266,34395 ESAL. Based on the results of the analysis that can be concluded
that the pavement design of the High Coral Road – Penanding is declared unsafe
because the Nd value for excess load is smaller than the CESA value for excess
load.
