Abstract

Pressure ulcer prevention is a priority in the care of patient and is an indicator of the quality nursing care. Although efforts to improve the quality of pressure ulcer prevention measures have been carried out, the symptoms indicate that the problem occurs in the prevention of pressure ulcer is still quite complex and complicated. The purpose of this study was to identify the implementation of pressure ulcer prevention and factors that have affect to pressure ulcer prevention in hospital.
The design of the study is a qualitative research with case study approach. The sampling technique is purposive sampling. Participants in this study amounted to 29 participants that consisting nurses and management of Panembahan Senopati Hospital. Data was collected through by observation, documentation studies, focus group discussions (FGD) and in-depth interviews. Analysis of the data using a data analysis technique according to Miles & Huberman.
Based on the analysis was concluded that the pressure ulcer prevention in the inpatient wards is risk assessment, reposition, skin assessment, skin care, improved nutrition, support surfaces and documentation. Obedience in the implementation prevention of pressure ulcer in a patient safety improvement in the Ward of Panembahan Senopati Hospital is non adherent. The factors that influence to the prevention of pressure ulcer in a patient safety improvement in the ward of Panembahan Senopati Hospital is management policies, infrastructure procurement policies, infrastructure limitations, reporting system, minimum standards of incidence and patient safety.
