Abstract
The inappropriate use of the antibiotics is mostly found in the society and
causes many risks such as antibiotic resistance.
Antibiotics are drugs that are widely prescribed. Inappropriate use of
antibiotics is a major antimicrobial factor. This descriptive study aims to examine
the knowledge, rational use of antibiotic practices, and factors that predict antibiotic
use in Sirindhorn Yala collage's students. One hundred ninety students were
randomly grouped into the study. The research instrument consisted of tests and
questionnaires and this study used descriptive statistics of Pearson correlation
coefficients.
The results of this study indicate having knowledge about rational use of
antibiotics at a "high" level (83.7%) and that the sample (47.4%) shows having
knowledge of rational antibiotic use at a "Medium" level (M = 2.64, SD = 0.78).
The results of the practice of rational antibiotic use are at the level of "Medium" (M
= 3.36, S.D. = 0.99).
The researchers' findings also suggest that Sirindhorn Yala college should
develop rational antibiotic use learning programs or short courses to improve
student knowledge and rational use of antibiotic practices.
