Abstract
The research discusses about Michelle Bachelet’s victory as socialist candidate in Chilean presidential election 2005- 2006. The problem background begins from fluctuant patterns of Socialist candidates victories which were gained in 1970 through Salvador Allende, in 2000 through Ricardo Lagos Escobar, and the latest one in 2006 through Michelle Bachelet. In addition, it become more interesting to discuss in which Michelle Bachelet is an agnostic and a singleparent of her three children by consideration of Chilean society is known as conservative society. Thereby, the problem formulation of the research is what factors are influencing Michelle Bachelet’s victory in Chilean presidential election 2005- 2006. Theoretical frameworks are involving Socialism Concept and Charismatic Authority Theory. The socialism concept is used to explain the influence and support of socialism in both domestic, Chile and regional, Latin America. Meanwhile, the charismatic Authority theory is used to describe personal charismatic and capacities owned by Michelle Bachelet which becomes one factor influencing citizen’s vote on her.
