Abstract

The tafhimul Qur’an (understanding Qur’an) learning strategy at UNIRES UMY needs
to be reviewed because the writer observes that this activity is not conducive. One of the
causes is that some of the tafhimul Qur’an instructors do not maximize the time in giving
material. This study aims to: 1) determine the learning strategy of tafhimul Qur’an at
UNIRES UMY, and 2) find out the supporting and inhibiting factors in the tafhimul Qur’an
learning strategy at UNIRES UMY.
This research was a results-based qualitative research. This means that this research is
designed in general, is flexible, and develops throughout the research process until data
saturation is discovered. The location of the research was UNIRES UMY. The object of
research was the tafhimul Qur’an learning strategy at UNIRES UMY, while for the research
subjects were people who are involved in tafhimul Qur’an activities. Data collection
techniques were using observation, interviews, documentation and triangulation. Data
analysis techniques in qualitative research were carried out since before entering the field,
while in the field, and after completion in the field. The data validity test was carried out
through five stages, namely; the extension of observation, increased persistence,
triangulation, using reference material, and conducting a member check.
The results of this study indicate that the tafhimul Qur’an instructor at UNIRES UMY
has implemented three learning strategies according to the theory of Hamzah B. Uno, namely
the organizing, delivery, and management of learning strategies. However, there are
differences in the implementation. The difference is seen from the sequence of learning based
on the UNIRES UMY’s tafhim book draft, methods and media for delivering material,
providing motivation, managing learning outcomes and providing solutions to the obstacles
that occur in tafhim learning. Supporting factors in the tafhimul Qur’an learning strategies of
namely good response from residents, and the use of various media and incentives. As for the
inhibiting factors including drowsy conditions at dawn, the resentment of the resident, the
absence of the UNIRES UMY’s tafhim book as a handbook, printing errors in the verses of
the Qur’an and the use of less formal language in the tafhim books, as well as learning targets
that were not completed until Surah an-Naba.
