Abstract
This research aims to: 1) Analyze the stress coping in the students of Faculty
of Islamic Education (PAI) UMY in writing undergraduate thesis. 2) Analyze the
academic procrastination level of the students of PAI UMY in writing
undergraduate thesis. 3) Analyze the effect of stress coping on academic
procrastination in the students of PAI UMY in writing undergraduate thesis.
This research used quantitative approach with survey research type. The
research population was all students of PAI UMY Batch 2016 who were writing
their undergraduate thesis that is 121 students. The sample taken was 50% of the
total population which was 67 students. The sample collection technique applied
simple random sampling meaning that the selection of sample respondents was
randomly selected without considering the level existing in the population. The
data were collected using questionnaire (likert-scale model) and interview. The data
analysis used descriptive statistics test and simple linear regression test.
The research results are: 1) Stress coping of the students of PAI UMY in
writing their undergraduate thesis writing can be categorized as fair with the
percentage of 61.2%. 2) The academic procrastination level of the students of PAI
UMY in writing undergraduate thesis is categorized as fair with the percentage of
55.2%. 3) The data analysis results show that the value of sig. 000 < 0.05 meaning
that there is a significant influence of stress coping on procrastination in the students
of PAI UMY in writing their undergraduate thesis having the level of influence of
6.1% while the rest is influenced by other factors.
