Abstract

Preaching was not only done by lecturing but also namely through art. One
of the most popular arts is a song. The songs in this study were Wali Band’s “Tobat
Maksiat” (Repentance and Immorality) and Noah Band’s “Tak Ada yang Abadi”
(Nothing is Eternal). This research examines the message of da’wah (Islamic
preaching) and semiotic analysis contained in the lyrics of the song of Wali Band’s
“Tobat Maksiat” and Noah Band’s “Tak Ada yang Abadi.” Research type was
descriptive using the qualitative method and semiotic analysis approach. The data
collection technique used documentation in the form of videos from YouTube from
the Wali Band and Noah Band. The videos were then observed in depth by the
researcher to get accurate results. The data analysis technique in this study used
Roland Barthes’ analysis. Research concludes that the message contained in the
lyrics of the song “Tobat Maksiat” is to invite listeners to think of death, ask for
forgiveness from Allah SWT, prepare all the needs for the afterlife, and invite
listeners to remind each other and advise each other. The message of da’wah
contained in the lyrics of the song “Tak Ada yang Abadi” to convey and remind the
listeners to remember that nothing is eternal in the world. It also teaches us that by
living in a temporary world, we should prepare ourselves by doing good deeds on
earth and doing the deeds taught by the Rasulullah SAW. Based on the semiotic
analysis of the lyrics of the song “Tobat Maksiat” and “Tak Ada Yang Abadi,” they
almost have the same meaning, namely remembering the hereafter.
