Abstract

This study aims to determine the value of Islamic Religious Education,
examine character education and know Islamic boarding schools.
This type of research is descriptive qualitative research. The resource persons
for the research were the Principal, Deputy for General Curriculum and Deputy
for Religious Curriculum, PAI Teachers and Santriwati. Data collection
techniques using interview methods, observation, and documentation.
The results obtained from this research are: first, the value of character
education is realized through the following forms: 1) religious character through
congregational prayer activities, time discipline, dress neatly and
communicatively through 5S, 2) Appreciation in the form of speech, 3)
Commitment in the form of responsibility answer, 4) Cooperation in the form of
mutual cooperation between school principals, teachers, employees and students,
5) Motivation in the form of giving to teachers, prohibition of carrying cellphones
and giving punishment and involving students in extracurricular activities.
Second, the value of character education embedded in SMP MBS Yogyakarta is
religious value, discipline value, responsibility value, environmental care value,
friendly and communicative value and creative value. Third, the supporting
factors for the implementation of character education at SMP MBS use integrated
boarding systems for all students in the dormitory. So this is very supportive of the
implementation of character education because students are in an integrated
forum (pesantren community). The implementation of character education is
carried out in a structured and monitored manner within 24 hours of children
carrying out daily activities monitored by the mudabbir and dormitory
supervisors. A system that is sustainable or continuous due to the implementation
of character education is carried out routinely every day and is continuously
monitored.
