Abstract
There were many kinds of water filtration equipment to use at home and can produce water with contains low mineral. In addition, there are many kinds of drink that claimed by producer as an isotonic drink with vitamin. All of that drinks can restore the body fluid balance and electrolytes which loss because of sports and activity. The aim of this study was to observe the effect of consumption a drink with low mineral, ordinary and an isotonic drink with vitamin. This was an experimental study, with pre and post test control group design. Subjects were thirty FKU UMY students fulfilling the inclusion criteria and divided into 3 groups, the controlled group, 1St treated group and 2nd treated group. The controlled group was given ordinary water, 1 st treated group was given water with contains low mineral, 2' treated group was given an isotonic drink with vitamin. Weighing of the subject was done before and after exercise to find out the dehydration level. The restored fluid balance was known by comparing the results of bOdy weight, clarity, color and urine specific gravity 15 minutes after rehydration I and 15 minutes after rehydration H to before exercise. The result of this study showed that the means of bodyweight, clarity, color and urine specific gravity before and after exercise were significantly different according to statistics between three groups (p<0,05). The three groups experienced mild dehydration. There were significant difference according to statistics of urine specific gravity 15 minutes after rehydration I between 2nd treated group with controlled group, 2nd treated group with 1 St treated group (p<0,05). Meanwhile there were no significant difference according to statistics of bodyweight, clarity, and color urine means (p>0,05). There were no significant difference according to statistics of bodyweight, clarity, color, urine specific gravity means 15 minutes after rehydration H between three groups (p>0,05). Conclusion: An isotonic drink with vitamin was able to restoring the body fluid balance in mild dehydration in 15 minutes after exercise. Meanwhile, a drink which contains low mineral was able to restoring the body fluid balance in mild dehydration in 30 minutes after exercise.
