increased blood pressure is above normal or chronic (long periods). Human normal blood pressure is less than 120/80 mmHg. Told hypertension when blood pressure more than 140/90 mmHg. Caffeine, xanthine alkaloid compound is crystalline and bitter taste that works as a psychoactive stimulant drug and a mild diuretic. Caffeine effect on the physiology of the body that is on the central nervous system and cardiovascular system. Increased plasma catecholamines caused by the caffeine will give the effect of increasing the frequency and strength of the heartbeat. The purpose of this study is to determine whether the effects of caffeine on blood pressure normotensi adults.
Type of research is a quasi-experimental research. The subjects were 30 adult subjects who normotensi then divided randomly into two groups of 15 people each, one group was given caffeine and the second group was given placebo. The group members did not know the type of material they receive. Before the intervention were given caffeine or placebo throughout the study subjects were measured systolic and diastolic blood pressure, after six hours of re-intervention was measured systolic blood pressure and diastolic to know the short-term effects of caffeine consumption. As the result is the average blood pressure of systole than diastole before the consumption of caffeine-treated group was 115/74 mmHg and after 6 hours showed an
