Abstract
Nowadays, thermometers have been widely used in society. A thermometer is a tool used to measure temperature. There are several kinds of thermometers used to measure body temperature namely clinical and digital thermometers. The objective of the research was to design a body temperature gauge that is completed with hypothermia and hyperthermia detectors. The temperature censor used was LM35 censor, the censor would detect the temperature that would be processed from analogue into digital by ADC on ATMEGA8 microcontroller. Three times of temperature point measurement were conducted in this research. The first test was conducted on low temperature point by measuring the temperature of a refrigerator. The second test was conducted on normal temperature point by measuring human body temperature. The third test was conducted on high temperature point by measuring the temperature of a magic corn (in keep warm level). The result of the tests indicated that the gauge designed had average result on normal temperature measurement of 35,415°C compared to a Made-In-China digital thermometer with the brand of Omron. On high temperature measurement, the average was 58,105°C, and on low temperature measurement was 7,3355°C by comparing using two mercury thermometers with temperature range of (-10°C) — 110°C.
