Abstract
Background: The Hospital Safety Committee in 2007 reporting, Patient Safety Incident (PSI) in Yogyakarta is 3rd out of eight provinces. One of causes the high PSI is an ineffective PSI reporting system. A Patient Safety Culture (PSC) was recommended by Institute of Medicine to prevent PSI. The presense of leadership follow-up in the form of coaching for all workers who play a role in health affects the development of PSC. Objective: This study aims to know the effect of PSC and leader coaching behaviour nursing managers on PSI reporting at Panembahan Senopati hospital. Methods: This study was a cross sectional survey design. The sample was 134 nurses at Panembahan Senopati hospital who served on the ward with inclusion and exclusion criteria. Data analysis used multiple linear regression. Result: The results of the study revealed that PSC and leader coaching behaviour nursing managers had a significant effect on PSI reporting (R = 0,582; F count = 88,545; p < 0,05) which is indicated by the t count of PSC on PSI reporting is 2,110 and t count of leader coaching behaviour nursing managers on PSI reporting is 11,868. Conclusion: There is a significant effect of PSC on PSI reporting, there is a significant effect of leader coaching behaviour nursing managers on PSI reporting, and there is a significant effect of PSC and leader coaching behaviour nursing managers on PSI reporting simultaneously.
