Abstract
Teaching media has an important role in the teaching and learning process. Using teaching media to deliver the material in class will make it easier for students to understand the material. Learning English is not easy. Teachers are asked to be as creative as possible in delivering the material. Technology has an important role in education: teachers are required to use technology for their class, and Canva is a digital technology that teachers can use to create teaching media. This research aims to determine the perception of Senior High School English teachers about using Canva as a tool for creating teaching media for their class, especially how Canva can help teachers develop teaching media. The researcher employed a qualitative descriptive research design to provide detailed information on teachers' perceptions. The researcher collected the data from six Senior High School English teachers in Yogyakarta. In addition, the researcher collected the data through individual interviews and used document checking to see what kind of teaching media the teacher has created through Canva. The findings show that the reasons Senior High School English teachers used Canva as a tool for creating teaching media: 1) Canva has many features, 2) Canva is free of charge, 3) Canva is easy to use, 4) Canva can increase teachers’ creativity and facilitate teachers for creating teaching media, 5) teaching media created using Canva becomes more interesting, and 6) students are more interested in learning. Not only that, but the findings also show there are five kinds of teaching media that teachers can create using Canva, there are video learning, visual aids or presentation, chart, card, and poster.
