Abstract
The students of Islamic boarding schools are required to speak English in a specific week which is known as an English week. They are required to talk from morning to night in every activity they do with their schoolmates or the teacher. The present study aims to determine how the female student use English language in their dormitory during the English weeks and how they maintain to keep speaking English in their dormitory during the English weeks. The participants of this research were six female student who are the members of language section or the department in charge of language. This research was qualitative research utilizing interview as the data gathering technique. The findings of the first research question on how the female student use English language in their dormitory during the English weeks were that they use it for vocabulary enrichment, language justification, information broadcasting, extra class, language festival, language club, and daily activities. In addition, the findings on how the female student keep speaking English in their dormitory during the English weeks were that through memorizing vocabulary, finding the meaning in a dictionary, and looking at language tag, code-switching and code-mixing, appealing for help, miming, looking for an alternative word, listening to music and watching English movies.
