Abstract

Due to the Covid-19 outbreak, educational systems worldwide changed from offline into virtual ways, including in a private university of Yogyakarta. Therefore, technology such as Microsoft Teams has significant role in this pandemic situation. This study investigated the students' attitudes and the gender differences towards using Microsoft Teams as online learning in the Covid-19 pandemic. The study approach was quantitative cross-sectional survey design that explored the students' attitudes and the gender differences towards using Microsoft Teams. The research took place in a private university of Yogyakarta which employed a total sampling consisting of 108 participants (28 male and 80 female students) from batch 2019 and utilized questionnaire as the data collection method. The result shows that the mean score from the first research question was 36.32, which indicated a high category. Regarding to the second research question result, the independent sample of t-test shows that the significant score is 0.085 (>0.05). Hence, this research shows that students in a private university of Yogyakarta have a positive attitude toward using Microsoft Teams on joining the online class in the Covid-19 pandemic era and there is no significant difference among students' gender toward using Microsoft Teams on joining the online class in Covid-19 pandemic. Thus, the alternative hypothesis was rejected because there is no significant difference between male and female students.
