Abstract

The spread of COVID-19 occurs rapidly and affects various aspects of life, one of which is education. According to UNESCO in 2020, 39 countries closed schools and affected around 421.4 million students and the solution was distance learning whose effectiveness was not widely known. This also has an impact on the implementation of the Pharmacist Professional Work Practice (PKPA) in the pharmacy sector at the Pharmacist Professional Education Study Program, University of Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (PSPPA UMY). Due to COVID-19, the implementation of the PKPA in the pharmacy sector during the pandemi was modified to be online or a combination of online and offline. This can affect the achievement of PKPA student competence in the pharmacy sector. The purpose of this study was to describe the implementation of PKPA and the differences in competency achievement for students who were affected by changes in the method of implementing PKPA in the pharmacy sector during the COVID-19 pandemi. The research method used is descriptive-analytic. Descriptive analysis was conducted to describe how the implementation of PKPA in the pharmacy sector during the COVID-19 pandemi in batches 6, 7, and 8 at PSPPA UMY. Quantitative analysis was carried out using the Kruskal-Wallis test method which was used to examine differences in the achievement of PKPA competence in the pharmacy sector between forces affected by the COVID-19 pandemi based on data from the PKPA comprehensive exam results in the pharmacy sector from the 3 batches. The implementation of PKPA during the COVID-19 pandemi was carried out using various learning methods, wherein batch 6 it was done using the online method, in class 7 it was done using the online-offline method and in batch 8 it was done with the full offline method. The results of the KruskalWallis test state that there are differences in the achievement of PKPA competencies in the pharmacy sector, namely the pharmacy management competence (P-value 0.000) and pharmaceutical service competence (P-value 0.006), while there is no significant difference in regulatory and legal competence (P-value 0.082) and establishment of a pharmacy (P-value 0.053)
