Abstract
The high rate of population growth is still a major population problem in Indonesia. The high population rate is indicated by the large number of mothers who give birth to many children and the distance between births is too close. The government through the Badan Kependudukan dan Keluarga Berencana Nasional (BKKBN) initiated the Family Planning (KB) program in the form of the installation of the Postpartum Intra Uterine Device (IUD) contraceptive method to avoid this. Postpartum IUD contraception has very little coverage in Indonesia (6.6%), while active family planning participants who used a special IUD in Klaten Regency in 2018 only accounted for 5.9% of the total number of fertile age couples (EFA). Many factors influence the willingness to use post-partum IUD contraceptives, including parity, age, education, occupation, concerns about side effects, lack of program socialization, or even a strong culture of having many children. This study aims to determine the effect of education level and type of work on the willingness of postpartum IUD insertion in women giving birth and to find out how much education level and type of work have an influence on the willingness of postpartum mothers to install the IUD postpartum.
Methods: This research is an analytical descriptive study with a cross sectional approach which was conducted at the Rumah Sakit Khusus Ibu dan Anak (RSIA) 'Aisyiyah Klaten. Data collection was carried out from April 2021 to May 2021 with samples of mothers giving birth both spontaneously and by sectio caesarea who were willing to have Postpartum IUD and Interval IUD installed at RSIA 'Aisyiyah Klaten from 2016 to 2019 as many as 104 respondents. Analysis of the relationship test was carried out using the lambda contingency coefficient method with a significance level (p) of 0.05.
Results: The results of the analysis of the level of education of maternity mothers obtained a p value of 0.552 (p > 0.05) and a contingency coefficient value of 0.106, while for the type of work variable, a p value = 0.000 (p < 0>
Conclusion: There is no significant relationship between the level of education and the willingness to install the IUD Postpartum with a very weak correlation strength and there is a significant relationship between the type of work and the willingness to install the IUD Postpartum in women giving birth both spontaneously and by caesarean section at RSIA 'Aisyiyah Klaten with a correlation strength medium category.
