Abstract
Documentary films are a tool to convey information creatively, because documentaries display facts that exist in life. In order for films to be consumed by a wide audience, there is such a thing as film distribution. In terms of distribution, of course, indie films cannot be shown directly in commercial cinemas, because they often offer a variety of themes and appropriate audiences. One of the documentary films is Asu (Prokontra). The film focuses on sidestream channels such as film festivals, exhibitions in the film community or campus as well as online media such as Youtube and Viddsee platforms. This research uses a qualitative descriptive research type. Data collection techniques from documentation and interviews with film producers and directors Asu (Prokontra). This study aims to find out, understand, get a clear picture, and describe the distribution strategy of Asu's short documentary film (Prokontra). The results of this study indicate that the distribution of the Asu (Prokontra) film is supported by the festival platform which is the first contribution to various festivals in several years, then the last online platform published on the youtube platform and the Viddsee platform. Even though the online platform is easier to do nowadays, the roadshow route can be enjoyed at the same time with workshops and discussions with filmmakers as well as participating in the screening of the Asu (Prokontra) film.
