Abstract
Film is a medium for conveying messages. Through publicity, films can reach the audience or connoisseurs. The lack of space for appreciation of short films for small production houses from government institutions in Indonesia has made filmmakers independently distribute their films. Publicity plays an important role in the distribution process of the Tilik film produced by Ravacana Films. Films that are long enough for a short film, get a little space through the festival, but have the opportunity to be known more widely through the youtube platform. This research uses a qualitative descriptive research type. Data collection techniques from documentation and interviews with producers and publicists of the Tilik film. This study aims to determine the role of the publicist in distributing the Tilik film, from the initial planning process, distribution, to the promotion process for the Tilik film. The results of this study indicate that the role of the publicist in the distribution and promotion of the Tilik film is quite interesting. Festivals and alternative cinemas are the initial stages of introducing Tilik's film to a special audience that has been targeted by the public. The success in the promotion process made Tilik's film more widely known through the Youtube platform.
