The study used questionnaire as its instrument to gather the data needed. The data was physical exercise validly assessed by using r 0,607 and using reliability assessment resulting in 0,892. The data analysis technique employed was Chi square Research result: The demographic characteristics of (bothnewly-diagnosed and long-held diagnosed) diabetes melitus patients are 1) above 50 years old, 2) female, 3) from elementary education level, 4) housewife, 5) were educated about diabetes melitus in the past. The research concluded that there is a significant difference between ttitudes towards physical exercise of newly-diagnosed diabetes mellitus patients and those of long-held diagnosed diabetes mellitus patients, analysed by using Chi square (p----0,000<0,05). Conclusion :There is a different attitude between long-held diagnosed patients and newly-diagnosed patients towards physical exercise. The research showed that long-held diabetes melitus patients tend to perform physical exercise compared to those the newly-diagnosed diabetes melitus patients.
