Abstract
Parenting becomes important in children’s development from the school and social environments. For children’s success, parents should be involved in their children’s education. This research aims to know about (1) the parent’s involvement, (2) the students’ English academic achievement, and (3) the correlation between parents’ involvement and students’ English academic achievement. This study used a quantitative with a correlational research design. The research setting was Junior High School in Tasikmalaya. The data were gathered from 32 students by distributing questionnaires about parents’ involvement and taking grades on the report card for student English academic achievement. The questionnaire adopted from Nurmaw `Izatillah (2015). Regarding parents’ involvement, with a mean score of 3.82 which means that parental involvement has a strong influence. On the other hand, the mean score for student English achievement was 81.88, meaning the that students in Tasikmalaya high school have a fair level on student academic in English. Moreoverthe result of the normality test is Sig. 0.723> 0.05 means the normality assumption is normal because it is more than (0.05). This study uses Spearman Rank correlation to see the correlation between two variables. The resulting score of the correlation coefficient Sig. (2-tailed) 0.000 < 0.05. From the level of relationship strength, the score is 0.957*** which means there is a very strong relationship in parental involvement with students' English academic achievement. Implies that parent involvement correlates with student English academic achievement.
