Abstract

Since the Covid-19 pandemic, all schools have carried out online learning activities. During online learning activities, some students feel anxious when participating in online learning. This study aimed to reveal students’ anxiety in participating online learning, especially manifestation of students’ anxiety and students’ strategies in dealing with anxiety. This study used descriptive qualitative as the research design. The researcher collected the data from six participants of English Language Education Department students’ batch 2020 of a private university in Yogyakarta. The findings revealed that there are five manifestations of students’ anxiety. Those are nervousness, palpitation, worries, panic, and trembling. The finding showed four strategies that students used to reduce their anxiety in participating online learning. Those are being well-prepared, being relaxed, communicating with friends or lecturers, and making a mindset. This study supposed to be beneficial to related students who have anxiety in participating online learning, teachers, and other researchers.
