Abstract

The purpose of this research was to find out the habit of reading in English textbooks of Senior High School students, identify Senior High School students' vocabulary mastery and investigate the correlation between Senior High School students' English reading habit and vocabulary mastery. This research used quantitative research and correlation research as a research design. There were 64 students of the eleventh grade as the sample of research. For gathering the data, the questionnaire and vocabulary test were used to collect the data. The research showed that Senior High School students' English reading habit was in the moderate category with the mean score was 2.62 (SD= 0.236). Then students' vocabulary mastery was at the excellent level since the mean score was 13.01 (SD= 1.008). The last result showed that there was a positive low correlation between students' English reading habit and vocabulary mastery with the significant value was 0.043.
