Abstract
Business establishment requires employees who are committed to develop the business. Employees are expected to carry out their duties, responsibilities, and provide good services. Employees are also expected to have a high work ethic in carrying out the duty to achieve the company's goals, especially in providing good services. This research aims to determine the factors forming the Islamic work ethics and the effect of the Islamic work ethics on employee performance. The object of this research was Café 1912 UMY. The data sources used primary data obtained through direct interviews with the informants, namely Café 1912 UMY employees as well as direct observation at the research site. The secondary data was obtained from literature studies in the form of books, journals, and websites to strengthen research data. The research method used descriptive qualitative. The results of the research indicate that the Islamic work ethics have an indirect effect on employee performance. An interesting fact was found in this research, that the employees performed a regular Al-Qur’an memorizing activity, which became one of the employee performance satisfactions at work. This means that if the Islamic work ethics experienced by the Café 1912 UMY employees are effective, their performance will increase.
