Abstract

The research aims to descriptively analyze the implementation of reward and educational punishment and the level of learning motivation at SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Gamping. Additionally, the research aims to identify the influence of the provision of reward and educational punishment toward students’ learning motivation on online classes. The approach used in the research was quantitative. The population of the research was all students of SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Gamping in a total of 452 students. The sample of the research was in a total of 90 students selected out of the total number of the students of SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Gamping through non-probability purposive sampling technique. The instrument of the research was a closed questionnaire. Data were analyzed using the descriptive statistic of simple and multiple regression. The research result shows that the implementation of reward and educational punishment is classified into a good category. Further, students’ learning motivation in online classes is in a high category. The regression analysis result indicates that reward and educational punishment give positive and significant results both partially and simultaneously toward students’ learning motivation in online classes. This is proven by the result of the t-value X1 (4,932) and the t-value X2 (4,932) > t-table (1,991), and the regression coefficient on each of the variables resulted in a positive value. Additionally, the F-test resulted in F-value (22,878) > F-table (3,10).
