Abstract
ABSTRACT Background: Teeth are one of the important factors for patients in terms of aesthetics, including tooth color. One of the most popular is teeth whitening or teeth whitening. Tooth bleaching is a whitening technique for teeth that can change color. Teeth whitening can be done using natural ingredients. The natural ingredient used is pineapple hump (Ananas comosus) which contains the enzyme bromelain. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of pineapple hump (Ananas comosus) as a natural tooth whitening agent. Methods: The type of research conducted was an experimental laboratory with a pre-post test design. The research sample consisted of 32 post-extraction teeth consisting of 2 groups, namely group 1 applying pineapple hump extract and group 2 immersing in sterile distilled water for 4 hours/day in an incubator and repeated for 14 days. The color change was observed using a spectrophotometer. Results: Normality test for group 1 p=0.012 (p0.05) was normally distributed. The Wilcoxon test in group 1 yielded p=0.000 (p
