Abstract

Japan is country which got a military sanction after World War II which makes Japan look so weak in its military sector because Japan is prohibited from forming aggresive military power. This makes Japan has to initiated to strenghtening its country by utilizing its culture. Japan is a country which still has strong cultural values until now. Japan’s cultural values still growing and developing even in this globalization era. Although still keeping the old cultural values, Japan also accepting new cultures because of this globalization. Japan adapting and cultivating the new cultures, then develop them which known as Japanese Pop Culture such as cosplay, anime, manga, etc (Amalina, 2012). Japan utilizes Japanese Pop Culture to makes relationship with other countries in the world and forming collaboration in culture. All things that related to Japanese cultural exchange directly carried by Japanese institution called The Japan Foundation Rurouni Kenshin Film which is one of the Japanese Pop Culture contains many Japanese cultural elements inside it and also displaying the good side and good values of Japan. Japan using this film as a cultural diplomacy for Japan to international because this film presented the history of Japan in the past and its traditional cultures.
